Face to face with “CAVENDISH” - The best Yearling 2023

Jordan: “Hi Cave, thanks for accepting this interview!”

Cave: “It's an honor to be here and to be able to answer your questions”

Jordan: “Let's start with, how long have you been a racing pigeon?”

Cave: “I started my career as a youngster in 2022, participating in the category championship in the Milan South group which had well over 1000 participants. That year I raced about 800 km, managing to place in the first place 8 times.”

Jordan: “Where is your house? Oops loft?”

Cave: “my house took place in Marudo at the loft of my current owner Luca Campanini.”

Jordan: “What kind of preparation do you do before taking on a race?”

Cave: “It obviously depends on the type of race. However, 4-5 days before the race we start with morning training, which is the most intense, followed by the first meal of the day. A little rest before stretching our wings for the afternoon flight. After dinner we are finally allowed to relax, each in our own place.”

Jordan: “With all these workouts, when do you find time for a bath?”

Cave: “After the race!”

Jordan: “Can you tell us more about your diet?”

Cave: “Luca prepares us a mix of various types of grains, which includes, among others, corn, oats, peas, barley, etc. This concerns food, while for drinking, fresh water every day several times a day. All completed with various supplements, but the recipe is obviously secret.”

Jordan: “You told us about last year, when you were new, but this year you were named First Yearling Gold Ring of your group, what can you tell us?”

Cave: “It was a very tough year physically, I took part in more than 15 races and won a price practically in all of them. The races in which I specialized are speed races.”

Jordan: “at this point, can you tell us what your prizes were?

Cave: “The best results I have achieved are:

  • First of 330 km with almost 900 pigeons
  • First from 209 km with almost 950 pigeons
  • Fourth from 223 km with almost 800 pigeons
  • Fourth of 209 km with over 450 pigeons

Jordan: “Can you explain to us better how the awarding of prizes works?”

Cave: “It's very simple. The ranking is reserved for the first 20% of pigeons to arrive. For example, if there are 1000 pigeons at the start, the first 200 will win a prize.”

Jordan: “What plans do you have for the future?”

Cave: “Next year I will definitely race again, and I hope to reconfirm myself, thus increasing my prestige. Do I want to know my real value and make the choice difficult for Luca!”

Jordan: “What choice are you talking about?”

Cave: “Stay in the loft or finally put me up for auction!”

Jordan: “Do you already know where to do it?”

Cave: “Of course! With the best!
